The Narrative Companion Pack gives parents ready-to-use story scripts that make it easier to teach helpful choices through simple, child-friendly storytelling.
This pack was created to be used alongside the Making Choices Learning System. Instead of having to come up with your own stories on the spot, you can choose a scenario that matches your child’s behavior struggle, read or retell the story, and use the Making Choices visuals to show how unhelpful choices can make a situation worse — and how helpful choices can help things get better.
Inside this pack, you’ll find 15 common behavior scenarios, including:
Not listening the first time
Calming down when upset
Stopping screen time
Stalling at bedtime
Getting ready for school
Telling the truth
Taking turns
Sharing control of a game
Arguing that keeps getting bigger
Leaving someone out
Cleaning up with others
Each story includes an unhelpful choices version, a helpful choices version, follow-up questions, and a simple practice activity. This helps children see the difference between choices that make a problem bigger and choices that help a situation feel calmer, kinder, and more manageable.
This pack is especially helpful for parents who want to teach behavior in a calm, supportive way without lecturing, shaming, or turning every struggle into a power battle.
Please note: This is a companion resource. It is designed to be used with the Making Choices Learning System, sold separately.
